Hello and welcome to my Falken Wildpeak AT3W tire review.
All-terrain tires are often a mixed bag – you either get a good off-road tire with awful road characteristics or one that’s good on the road, but not as good off-road. As the name implies, all-terrain tires should be great on every surface, which is something that most tire makers struggle to achieve with their models.
Some of them manage to produce great all-terrain tires, like the Falken Wildpeak AT3W we will test here. This tire promises to do everything you’d want from an all-terrain one – good on-road dynamics and comfort, and great traction in almost every off-road scenario.
We’ve heard these words hundreds of times until now – almost every manufacturer makes the same promise, but with Falken, it should be different. Why? Well, in almost every test of all-terrain, off-road and mud-terrain tires, they come on top or close to the top.

Falken Wildpeak AT3W Overview
The Wildpeak AT3W are all-terrain tires made for a great experience on the road, great traction off-road, and great comfort, in every weather condition possible. It comes with an optimized tread design combined with a silica tread compound. Falken says that this combination warrants durability, wet performance, and winter performance. It even comes with the 3PMSF – Three Peak Mountain Snow Flake symbol, or in other words, it’s completely safe to use it in the harsh winter scenarios as well.
The Outer Apex Sidewall with secondary bend apex protect the internal casing of the tire, thus making it more resistant to wear and tear, even when driving off-road. The Apex Sidewall gets help from the 3D Canyon Sipe Technology, which interlocks the shoulders to further resist wear, as well as aiding stability when cornering. The Heat Diffuser Technology, on the other hand, dissipates the heat out of the internal tire components, improving stability under very heavy load.
But, perhaps the most important aspect of this tire is the all-terrain capabilities. To help with traction, Falken equipped it with Rugged and Rigid Tread Blocks with support ramps and step-down features. These enhance stability in the corners, but also prevent stones from being trapped in the grooves. The deepest tread in the all-terrain category provides this tire with excellent off-road, wet and snow performance, as well as aiding in durability.

Treadwear and Durability
All-terrain tires may not last as long as all-season road tires, but this Falken tire may surprise you. Even if you drive primarily off-road, this tire can last for a long time. It’s made of high-quality materials and that really shows in the durability department. We are sure that you will have thousands of carefree miles before you need to change them – the Wildpeak AT3W is up there with the most expensive all-terrain tires when it comes to durability.
Dry Traction and Grip – road and off-road
If you want the ultimate comfort and handling experience on the road, all-terrain tires are not for. But, if you want an all-terrain tire that can also be comfortable on the road, look no further than the Wildpeak AT3W. The Wildpeak AT3W shines in off-road situations as well. It provides the driver with excellent traction and grip on almost every possible surface – exploring the landscape has never been easier with this one. It’s even good in mud, even though for best mud performance we suggest buying e proper mud-terrain tire. For general off-road driving though, this is a beast.
Snow Traction and Braking Performance
Most all-terrain tires lose all of their abilities in the snow, but not the Wildpeak AT3W. Thanks to the deep tread blocks and optimized silica tread compound, it achieves good traction in both light and deep snow, as well as very good performance in dry and cold weather. This is a tire that you can use in every weather possible without big compromises.
That said, a proper winter tire will still provide you with the best possible traction in heavy winter conditions, even though this Falken comes with the 3PMSF symbol.
Comfort & Noise
Despite being an all-terrain tire, comfort is very good on this one as well. Sure, you can’t expect quietness on the level of on-road tires – it’s impossible to achieve that, but for all the other qualities, we couldn’t penalize the Wildpeak AT3W simply because it’s a bit noisier on the highway. Other all-terrain tires can be much noisier – this one is almost quiet in comparison.
On the other hand, comfort over bumps and bad surfaces is very good indeed. This is very important for everyday driving, but also very important for off-road driving. If you want to be aggressive and comfortable when exploring the landscape, the Falken Wildpeak AT3W is one of the best choices around.
Choosing a specialized all-terrain tire for your SUV or Truck is never easy, as there are often too many sacrifices you need to make if you want great off-road performance. Luckily, Falken designed a tire that can really do a lot of things right – off-road and on-road.
We especially like how this tire behaves when you take the wrong turn – it’s capable of tackling any terrain out there. Only a few competitors can compare to this Falken when it comes to all-terrain capabilities. And when you add the proper snow capability and fair price to the mix, you get one of the best, if not the best all-terrain tires out there. This is a tire worthy of any serious off-road vehicle!
