100,000 new houses

Apparently the government is about the give the go-ahead to 100,000 new houses on government land.

Do you suppose that will include any new developments at Chequers or in the garden round the back of Number 10? 

Back in the 1980s, the government allowed council house tenants to buy their own homes.  Slowly but surely, free people were allowed to escape from dependency on the state.

Since then, quangos like the £7 Billion Home and Communities Agency have been slowly dragging us back to a world of state-provided housing. 

I hope that the Home and Communities Agency does not have any role in providing any state-funded housing on any of the government land released for this development.  I suspect that it will.
