A giant leap forward for Europe - and our government just agreed

The British government just agreed to a whole lot more European government at the latest EU summit.  Read the detail on John Redwood's blog

Very many of these new pan-EU measures apply to Britain in precisely the same way that they do to Eurozone members.

Over the past year, we've seen a steady stream of concessions to Brussels.  A failure to prevent UK liabilities for the bailout mechanism.  The UK drawn incrementally into the Euro as a debt union, if not a currency union.  Now this weekend, we find we've signed up to Brussels oversight of economic policy.

All the bull in the world about Europe's new "growth agenda", or blah blah about the shiny, new co-operation over Libya cannot hide what is happening.

Judged by what they do, rather than the impression ministers occasionally seek to convey, surely this is turning out to be the most pro-integrationist administration since Ted Heath's?
