A sovereign legislature

The Murdochs have been ordered to appear before the Commons.

Last week, the Speaker insisted on a three hour emergency debate - despite, it is said, some of the "good old boys" not wanting one.

And throughout, the momentum has been with backbenchers, like Tom Watson MP, who have been taking the initiative - rather than with ministers.

Perhaps, too, once the full scale of their ineptness becomes evident, we might have Parliamentary confirmation hearings for the head of the CPS?

Perhaps at last our rotten legislature is getting off its knees.  Parliament is recovering its purpose.
