After the Euro?

Charles Moore has a thoughtful article today about the Euro woes, and how to deal with them. 

"If you analysed a problem correctly and predicted how things would go wrong" he writes "you may well have some ideas about how to put them right."

George Osborne says that "I told you so" is not an economic policy.  Indeed, it isn't.  But being right - and able to think beyond Central Office briefing notes - is a good start.  

If the UK is to do more than merely tag along behind events, government policy needs to be driven by those who had a clear understanding of the problem from the start, and those who did not merely tack and triangulate. 

Most of all, ministers must grasp that merely following UKREP / Foreign Office advice, which inevitable is all about how to keep the Euro show on the road, is not the same thing as leading.
