Al Yamamah - nothing to see, move along?

Back in June 2007, I asked the Solicitor General if he'd ask the Serious Fraud Office to reopen the investigation "into the allegations of bribery in relation to the Al Yamamah contract".

"No" was the then Labour minister's reply. 

Alongside Vince Cable, I then asked for details of payments made under the deal to be published.  And like Vince got nowhere.

Together with Lynne Featherstone MP, I also pressed for the Comptroller and Auditor General's report on the Al Yamamah contract to be published.

Both Vince and Lynne are now government ministers and in a position to get us the information we were seeking while they were in opposition.  It's good to know they'll both now be insisting on full disclosure.
