Douglas Carswell's Blog

Are we in for a rude surprise?

"Is the bull market in gold over?" asks Bill Bonner in the latest issue of Money Week.

No, apparently.

"Why? Because the paper-based monetary system established in 1971 is doomed to failure.  If not now .... eventually".

He goes on "Whatever shards of monetary wisdom were still lying on the ground intact in 1971 have since been ground to dust .... investors bet that Ben Bernanke will ... kill the dollar".

More Quantitative Easing anyone?  How's that expansionary monetary policy working out?

Perhaps, as Bonner puts it, "money gotten at no expense is only gotten rid of at great cost".
