The government says the latest 4.9 percent increase in the EU budget demanded by Brussels is “not acceptable”. We shall see.
The last time Brussels was demanding more of our money a few months back, the government only cut up rough with them and forced a reduction in the size of the last increase after around 40 Conservative MPs showed they were prepared to put local public services ahead of more money for Eurocrats.
Let's hope ministers prove a little more successful at defeating this measure than they were at resisting efforts to bounce Britain into the bailout mechanism.
