Despite a massive whips' operation - and a government-backed wreaking amendment - 46 MPs had the courage to vote to prevent the government handing over our money to bailout the Eurozone.
The government can no longer assume a majority when it comes to handing our money over to the EU. Interestingly, the government could only be sure of defeating the motion by appearing to agree with it - and then having others water down the small print.
Interestingly, at the same time, Vince Cable seems to be the first minister to recognise the inevitability of a Greek default. If only he and others had voted to limit our liabilities in the Commons this afternoon, we might be better protected from what is to come .....
