Don't bother with Newslite

Enough is enough. Not for the first time I'm invited to appear on Newsnight. I reschedule my diary. Shift meetings. Change family arrangements.

Then they cancel last minute. This time via text.

Of the half dozen or so times I've made it on air on Newsnight, I've been cancelled at least as often.

I appreciate that news is a changing subject, but most of the cancellations aren't because the subject has changed. It seems more as if they over commission folk to appear on the show to allow them to pick and mix last minute.

Count me out.

Why bother trekking all that way? It's not as if many constituents watch the show. If I want to reach opinion formers, Radio 4 or a comment piece will do the trick. Besides, I can blog my version of events direct - like I'm doing now.

With a 24 hour news stream, it's not as if I watch the show much these days either....
