Europe - a historic opportunity is coming

Fraser Nelson, writing in the News of the World, suggests that as the Euro causes havoc, Britain should drive a hard bargain; powers back from Brussels in return for our help.

This is so blindingly obvious that only the sort of people who work at the Foreign Office don't see it.  

The key question is will our ministers have the verve and originality of thought to work out such a game plan?  Not if they keep following departmental advice, they won't ....

Ministers should remember that Kim Darroch and all the other UKREP officials won't be facing the voters in four years time.  Ministers will.  Now is the time to stop being run by the red boxes, and start formulating bold new policy.
