Errrr. Not really, Herr Fischer.
The disaster was the creation of the single currency in the first place. It allowed Europe’s politicians to sacrifice the prosperity of her people in pursuit of a grandiose political scheme.
Calling time on the Euro might be a disaster for EU politicians. But in escaping from the cage of a common currency, the people of Europe have nothing to lose but their politicians’ foolish pride.
