Greece referendum

Greece will hold what will, de facto, become a referendum on remaining in the Eurozone.

Excellent. 

At last ordinary Greek people will be able to decide if they prefer endless, ruinous bailouts that push them further into debt.  Or alternatively if they prefer to default on the debts and decouple from the Eurozone.

Greece has little to lose but the foolish pride of her political elite who signed her up to the Euro.

Incidentally, allowing Greeks to pass judgement on the grand European project massively strengthens the case for us having the right to pass popular judgement too.

The end of this grand folly is near.  The decision by ministers in our own government to support fiscal union is going to look both wrong-headed and bizarre.
