How's that growth strategy coming along?

Today we learn that one of the key indicators of economic growth in the service sector – the so-called purchasing managers index – suggests the economy is slowing.

Yesterday, the Telegraph told us how "new figures showed that manufacturing industry slumped to levels last seen during the recession, mortgage approvals crashed to a record low for April, global growth indicators stumbled, and Britain was officially declared one the gloomiest nations in the world”.

But apart from all that, how’s the growth strategy working out?

Maybe making speeches about growth it isn’t enough? Perhaps that low-interest-rates / print-more-money-and-pray approach at the Treasury, a policy constant since 2007, isn’t working?

Not so much time for a re-think as time for a think?
