Italy: technocrat replaces clown

According to the media pundits, Italy's new Prime Minister, Mario Monti, is a "highly respected" economist.

By whom?

By the voters who never voted him in? Or by the elite clique in Brussels who lord it over all Europe?

Monti is a former EU Commissioner for Competition. Some would suggests that a lack of competitiveness lies at the heart of the current Eurozone crisis.

He is also an advocate of pan-European economic government. Some might think that too much Europe caused the problem. Mario seems to think that more Europe is always and everywhere the answer.

I doubt that the technocrats now running Rome will have any more success at making 2 + 2 equal 2 trillion than the politicians did.

But how, I wonder, do you throw a technocrat out of office when they fail?
