Here's the deal:
If the IMF does what it has traditionally done to rescue bankrupt countries - devalue the currency, default / restructure the debt and downsize the public sector - I'll vote to support it.
If not, I won't.
No government ever lost money lending it to IMF. But the IMF never before helped debtor nations by pressing more debt on them.
The Chinese government with $3.2 trillion reserves declined to invest it in maintaining Europe's grand monetary folly. So why should my constituents be forced to cough up another 500 per household to save Euro politicians from their own monetary madness?
If your family found that it had an extra 500, would you;
a) save it
b) spend it on something for the kids
c) use it to pay off debt, or
d) give it to George Osborne to give to Christine Lagarde to give to a Eurozone basket case, in order to put them deeper into debt?
