Important article by Peter Oborne in today's Telegraph for anyone interested in the Euro bailouts.
Apparently, UK taxpayers will not have to pay anything for any further Greek bailout. Even if the European Commission uses the EU budget as collateral for any loans to Greece - via the European Stabilisation Mechanism - British taxpayers' money will not be put on the line.
If what we are told is that case, then even if / when there is a Greek default, our EU budget contribution will not have to increase as a result - as was once feared.
Good. Let's hope so.
Incidentally, what has become of those officials in Whitehall who, this time last year, were advising ministers to go along with all this? Promotion, I suspect.
