Restorative justice?  Let local people decide

After questioning the Ministry of Justice's plans to make"restorative justice" the norm, in place of justice based on punishing wrong doers, I got a couple ofemails complaining.

"You don't understand" wrote one "Restorative justice can be really good". "RJ helps offender and victim see each others point of view" wroteanother.

I'm sure "RJ" can be good in some circumstances. But if you passionately believe restorative justice is the way forward, stand for election as local Police and Crime Commissioner next May promising to promote it.

That way we can see if local folk also think it a good idea.....
