What populist revolt in the Middle East says about British foreign policy

How's the Foreign Office’s suck-up-to-Gaddafi, terrorist-for-oil, ex-diplomats-on-the-corporate-payroll approach to Libya working out? 

All those expert Arabists in King Charles Street like to imply their understanding of the region is second to none. But I don’t suppose any of them saw the digital age upheavals coming? 

The FCO have been left calling for “stability” at the precise moment many in the Middle East have come to see decades of oppressive, tyrannical stability as the problem.  

Maybe it is time for us in Britain to stop leaving foreign policy to the Foreign Office. They don't seem to be much good at it.
