What's right for BBC is good for Foreign Office

Well done to Jeremy Hunt. He's ensuring that the next Chair of the BBC Trust will have to face a Commons confirmation hearing - with a vote presumably - before taking the job. MPs could veto the candidate for the role.

But if the next chair of the BBC Trust is going to face a confirmation hearing, what about Britain's next ambassador to Brussels?

If the official responsible for all that TV has to face proper democratic scrutiny, why not the man who oversees all that EU deal-making?
