Where's the energy to fuel economic growth going to come from?

Another cold, still day in Clacton.

Looking out to sea at the massive wind turbines built off our coast, I wonder how much energy they're producing right now?  Not a great deal, if non-rotating blades are anything to go by.   

Yet older folk are struggling to heat their homes, as the renewable tariffs added to their bills begins to bite.  Business is being forced to pay higher energy costs, which makes them less and less competitive. 

If we are going to have a "growth strategy", where is the energy to fuel it going to come from?   And if we have such inflated energy costs, how can people who make things do so profitably?
