Any tips for my Pontiac Sunfire 2.4 Twin Cam idling issues?

Have you replaced the spark plugs recently? Worn plugs can contribute to rough idling.

That’s a good idea. I changed mine just last month, and it made a noticeable difference in smoothness.

You might also want to consider the fuel filter. A clogged one can restrict fuel flow and mess with idling.

True! A clean fuel system is critical. Did you notice any symptoms before replacing yours?

If all this fails, sometimes a software update for the engine control unit can resolve idling issues too!

That sounds a little too high-tech for my battle with the car, but I guess it’s worth checking out.

Can I just say, if you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s okay to get a mechanic involved! Sometimes it’s worth the peace of mind.

I agree! But, also, where’s the fun in that? Diagnosing your own problems is part of the car lover experience!

Has anyone considered checking the throttle body? Sometimes it just needs a good cleaning!

I did that once, and it was like the car was brand new! Definitely worth a shot.

Remember, folks! Even the Sunfire has its quirks, but with some patience, we can troubleshoot through this together. :hammer_and_wrench:

I had similar idling issues with my Sunfire! Regular maintenance checks, especially on the air filter and spark plugs, really helped. Keeping them clean can improve your fuel efficiency significantly.

Absolutely! Also, consider checking your tire pressure. Under-inflated tires can drag and reduce your fuel economy.

If you’re looking for driving habits, try to accelerate slowly and maintain steady speeds on the highway. It makes a big difference in fuel consumption!

That’s great advice! I’ve also found that using cruise control can help maintain a steady speed and improve efficiency.

Don’t forget about oil changes! Keeping your engine oil fresh can help your Sunfire run smoother and utilize fuel more efficiently.

I love my Sunfire, but wish it was a bit more fuel-efficient! Has anyone tried any modifications like a different exhaust system? I’m curious if that helps.

Good question! I’ve seen some folks swap out for a performance exhaust. It can improve airflow and even add a bit more power!

Make sure your fuel injectors are clean, too. Dirty injectors can lead to poor fuel delivery and affect performance margins.

It’s also worth noting that removing excess weight from your car can help. I always empty out anything unnecessary for better fuel economy.
