Anyone facing transmission issues with their 2001 Honda Accord?

I’ve tried synthetic once—it was great, but costly. But my Accord loved it! I think it really improved my shifting.

That’s good to know, csullivan! I might look into it then. Can anyone share if they faced any issues after switching back to regular fluid?

Honestly, I had a bad experience going back to regular fluid after using synthetic. My shifts started to feel rough—definitely not worth it for me!

Haha, I guess it’s like switching back from gourmet to fast food—sometimes, it’s just not the same! We just need to take care of these transmissions.

So true! I’m making it a point to keep track of fluid changes now. Learn from the mistakes for the next service!

I’ve been having issues with the transmission in my 2001 Accord for a while now. It’s been slipping and the check engine light is on. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes! My car has been slipping too. I took it to a mechanic and they quoted me around $2,500 for a rebuild. Ouch!

Transmission issues can be quite costly! If a rebuild is around $2,500, you might want to consider a replacement if it’s significantly older. Have you thought about it yet?

Well, a replacement could cost upwards of $4,000, so think carefully! It might be more economical to find a reputable mechanic who specializes in Hondas.

Exactly! Anyone know a good shop in the San Diego area? I’m new here and could use some recommendations.

I’ve had luck with a shop called ‘Hondaworks’. Fair pricing and they know their stuff. Might be worth checking them out!

Are there any DIY fixes for these transmission issues? I’m handy and looking to save some cash. Any insights would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve read that flushing the transmission fluid can help sometimes. It’s a cheaper fix if you want to try that first.

Also, check the transmission filter! If it’s clogged, it could cause issues. That’s an easy DIY fix!

I really wish cars came with clear transmission warnings. My Accord just started making weird noises before it slipped! Is that common?

Absolutely! I think Honda should have made better alerts. At least we have each other to vent about it, right?

Haha, true! At least we can share experiences. It’s a tough situation, but finding a good mechanic can really ease the pain!
