Anyone Tried Side View Mirror Tint? Looking for Tips!

Seeking Advice on Side View Mirror Tint

I’m considering tinting my side view mirrors and could use some guidance from those who have done it before. Here are a few questions I have:

  • What products have you found to be effective for tinting? I’m looking for something that lasts and doesn’t bubble over time.
  • What are the benefits of tinting the mirrors? I’ve heard it can reduce glare, but are there any other advantages?
  • Any tips on the application process? I’d love to hear about your experiences to avoid any mistakes.
  • Are there legal considerations? I live in [Your Location], and I’m not sure what the laws are regarding tinting mirrors.
  • How do you maintain the tint once applied? I want to keep them looking good without too much hassle.

If anyone has insights or can point me to useful resources, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks in advance for your help!

I’ve tried a ceramic tint on my side view mirrors. It’s great for blocking UV rays and doesn’t interfere with visibility at all. Highly recommend it!

I had a reflective tint before, but some drivers were really annoyed by the glare. Just make sure to check local laws first!

Ceramic sounds good! What brands would you recommend? I’ve only seen a few options at local shops.

I’ve had luck with 3M tints. They have a good reputation and offer various options for side mirrors.

Reflective tints are cool for looks, but I find they can be a bit distracting. Just be cautious about how dark you go!

Yeah, I agree with you, norristimothy. I had a dark reflective tint and it attracted unwanted attention from the police. Play it safe!

Ouch! That’s not what you want. I’ll stick to non-reflective for my mirrors for peace of mind.

Anyone tried applying the tint themselves? I heard it’s tricky but worth it if you can do it right!

I’ve attempted it! Turns out, it was more difficult than I expected, but it looks pretty good now.

I think the whole side mirror tinting is overrated. Just get good quality mirrors instead. Just my two cents!

It’s not overrated! It can really help with glare and privacy. Plus, it looks sleek!

I recently tinted my side view mirrors and it definitely reduces glare. For installation, you’ll need a heat gun, squeegee, and a sharp blade. Start with a clean surface and work slowly to avoid bubbles.

What about the type of tint? Do you all recommend any specific products?

I’ve used 5% ceramic film and it’s held up great. Make sure to buy quality tint! It’s worth it to avoid fading and bubbling. Also, using a soapy water solution helps get rid of bubbles during application.

That’s a good tip! I didn’t use that last time and ended up with quite a few bubbles. How do you control the heat from the heat gun to avoid damaging the glass?

Great question, steven13! Keep the heat gun moving and about 6-8 inches away from the glass. Too close can cause the tint to warp or the glass to crack. It takes practice!

It’s funny how we overlook mirrors. I thought of installing tint when I kept getting blinded while driving! Great tips here, though; I might try it myself this weekend.

Let us know how it goes! I’m curious if it’s worth trying DIY or just getting it done professionally.

If you’re not comfortable, I’d recommend going professional. They have the experience and tools to avoid common pitfalls like bubbles and misalignment. Plus, warranties can be helpful.
