Anyone tried the 3rd row seat in the Toyota 4Runner?

It’s a bit more involved than putting them in, but still manageable. Just take your time, follow the steps, and you should be good! If you’re stuck, just ask here.

Removing them seems like a workout! I attempted it once and ended up asking my friend for help because I was afraid I’d break something. Anyone else needed backup?

Haha, qholmes! I can relate to that feeling! It might help to have another person for the removal process just to stabilize things while you pull those bulky seats out.

I’ve taken a ride in the 3rd row of a 4Runner and I think it’s pretty cramped compared to other SUVs. For long trips, I’d recommend checking out the Honda Pilot or Toyota Highlander instead. They’ve got better legroom.

I agree, the space is a bit tight. But the 4Runner makes up for it with its off-road capability! It’s a trade-off depending on what you need.

The 4Runner’s 3rd row is definitely more suited for kids rather than adults. If you’re looking for usability, other SUVs like the Ford Explorer offer way more flexibility and room. Just my two cents!

That’s true! However, the 4Runner does have that rugged durability that a lot of families look for. It’s like a family adventure vehicle!

I’ve got a 4Runner and my kids fit just fine in the back, but as they grow, I’m sure I’ll hear complaints about legroom! For carpool duties, I think I’d prefer the Subaru Ascent.

From what I’ve seen, it’s a love-it-or-hate-it scenario with the 4Runner’s 3rd row. If hauling adults often, definitely check out the Kia Telluride for comfort and space.

I find that interesting! I’ve heard the Telluride is really nice. Still, the 4Runner’s reliability is hard to beat.

What I appreciate most about the 4Runner’s 3rd row is that it folds flat. It’s not the roomiest, but it’s practical for occasional use. I’d love to hear more about the usability of the Nissan Pathfinder!

Absolutely! The fold-flat feature is great. The Pathfinder has a similar setup but offers a bit more space—much more useful for a growing family.

I have to ask, how often do you really use that 3rd row? Some folks say it’s just for emergencies. Considering that, I think I’d go for the 4Runner for its strong performance.

Good point! But for unexpected trips, having that space is great. Still, wouldn’t hurt to use humor and call it “the surprise seat”!
