Burning Smell After Oil Change - Normal or Not?

Older cars can indeed have different reactions! Sometimes age brings more leaks and issues.

But really, if it smells like burnt popcorn, you might want to get it checked out! Not all smells are normal.

LOL, wcampbell! Popcorn smell is definitely a red flag! As long as it smells like oil, you’re likely fine, but still be cautious.

I’ve had this burning smell issue too, but now I always let the car cool for a bit after the change. Is that a good practice?

Absolutely! Giving it time to cool down helps prevent any overheating that sometimes leads to those smells.
