FCS Struts vs KYB: Which Should I Choose?

I had a nightmare trying to install FCS on my Mazda! The bolts were rusted, and I had to do some extra prep work. Make sure yours aren’t too worn out.

Thanks for the heads up! Should I spray the bolts beforehand?

That’s a smart move! A little penetrating oil can save you a lot of grief. Plus, it might make the process smoother!

When it comes down to it, both FCS and KYB have their merits. It kind of depends on your vehicle and how comfortable you are with the tools. I’m more of a DIY type myself!

Great point! Is there a particular vehicle model that you think favors one brand over the other?

I recently compared the prices of FCS and KYB struts. FCS struts are generally cheaper, usually around $50-$100 less per strut than KYB. However, you might want to consider their durability and warranty when comparing value.

That’s a good point! While FCS is cheaper, I heard their lifespan might not match KYB’s. Has anyone tested this in real conditions?

From my experience, KYB struts tend to last longer and offer smoother rides. They also come with a better warranty, which is worth considering if you drive a lot.

Exactly! It’s all about getting value for your money. A higher upfront cost can mean lower replacement costs down the road.

I think it’s important to see what kind of driving you do often. If it’s more casual, FCS might be enough, but for off-roading or rough roads, KYB might be better.

Every time I ask about struts, people always have strong opinions! But really, just go with what fits your budget and driving style. What’s the long-term performance like for those who’ve used both?

I’ve had FCS struts, and while they were cheaper, I had to replace them sooner than expected. So, I’d say invest in KYB if you’re looking for long-term durability.

That sounds frustrating, @hessmary! Sometimes it really pays to spend a little more upfront. I’m sticking with KYB for now. What’s the warranty like on the FCS?

FCS typically offers a limited warranty of 1-2 years, while KYB can go up to a lifetime warranty depending on the model. Definitely something to consider!

Let’s not forget the installation cost! Sometimes cheaper struts can lead to higher costs if they’re harder to install. What has everyone experienced?

Haha, great point! If you need a mechanic, FCS might end up being pricier. Have we found a consensus yet or are we still debating?
