Good call! Those ground wires are critical. If they’re corroded or loose, it can create a lot of electrical nightmares. A bit of cleaning can work wonders.
I’ve had similar issues with my 2010 F150! It turned out to be a malfunctioning ignition switch. Replaced it myself, and no more problems since. Hope this helps!
Great to hear you found a solution! I had a similar issue where cleaning the battery terminals made a huge difference. Sometimes it’s the simple stuff!
Have you checked the starter relay? I had an F150 that would randomly not start, and replacing that fixed it. Worth investigating if you haven’t yet!
I haven’t looked at the relay yet. Do you have any tips on how to locate and test it?
I recommend looking at the battery too. Weak batteries can cause weird intermittent starts. Had to replace mine, and then it was like magic!
That’s a good point! I often forget to check the battery, so that’s very helpful advice.
I’ve had enough of this intermittent starting nonsense! I took mine to a mechanic who specializes in Fords, and they found a short in the wiring. Sometimes, going to an expert saves a lot of time.
What mechanic did you go to? I’m considering taking mine in if I can’t sort it myself. Need some recommendations!
I had an F150 that suffered the same fate. After trial and error, it was just the key fob needing reprogramming! Always look for the simplest solution first.
Wow, I didn’t even think about the fob! That’s hilarious but insightful—sometimes the solution is right under our noses!
