Got Noisy Lifters? Need Oil Additive Recommendations!

I’m facing some issues with my car’s lifters lately. They’ve been making quite a bit of noise, and I’m in search of a good oil additive for lifters that might help alleviate the ticking sound. I’ve read about several options out there, but I really want to know what works best from personal experiences.

What I’m Looking For:

  • Suggestions for specific oil additives you’ve tried.
  • Success Stories: Did any of the additives actually help quiet down the lifters?
  • Mechanics’ Opinions: If you’re a mechanic or have worked with lifters, what’s your take on these products?

Things to Consider:

  • I’ve already changed the oil, so I’m particularly focusing on additives.
  • I drive a [Your Car Make/Model] – any recommendations specific to that vehicle would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help, and I’m looking forward to hearing what’s worked for you all! Let’s bring these lifters back to life!

I’ve had great success with Seafoam! It really quieted my lifters down within a few minutes of running the engine after adding it. Highly recommend it!

I second that! Seafoam is amazing. I used it in my older car, and it worked wonders. Just make sure to follow the directions for the best results.

I’ve tried Lucas Oil Stabilizer, but honestly, it didn’t help much for my noise issue. It might work for others, though! Everyone’s car is different.

Interesting! I’ve heard mixed reviews about it. What kind of noise were you dealing with?

I added some Wynn’s Engine Flush before my oil change, and it made a significant difference in lifter noise. Worth a try!

That’s good to know! I might give it a shot. Is Wynn’s easy to find?

I usually buy Wynn’s at AutoZone, so it should be readily available! Just check your local shop or online too.

I’ve been using Marvel Mystery Oil. It did quiet the lifters down, but it also left a bit of residue in my engine. Anyone else experienced this?

Residue, huh? That’s a bit concerning. Maybe it’s worth it for the noise reduction?

I prefer some humor with my car issues! Why do lifters sound like a tap dance? Maybe they just want to join a band. But seriously, I haven’t found a miracle additive yet.

Haha, love that! But on a serious note, it is frustrating. I’m looking into STP Oil Treatment next.

STP helped a friend of mine! But be careful, as too much can lead to other issues. Moderation is key with additives.

What’s the harm in trying? Besides, if it doesn’t work, it could spark more interesting discussions like this one! Keep experimenting, everyone!

I highly recommend using ZDDP additives. They really help to reduce noise from lifters and provide superior lubrication.

I’ve heard good things about ZDDP too! It seems popular among classic car enthusiasts. Have you seen any long-term effects?

I tried a product called Marvel Mystery Oil, and it worked wonders for my noisy lifters. It’s definitely worth looking into!

Nice! How did you apply it? Any special tips for using it effectively?

I’ve heard mixed reviews about additives. Some say they do nothing, while others swear by them. Is it just placebo?

I think it depends on the formulation. Some additives might have unique ingredients that really do make a difference over others!
