Grinding Noise When Accelerating - What Could It Be?

Honestly, after reading all these comments, I’m half-expecting the grinding noise to start singing show tunes! Anyone else feel the same? :joy:

I’ve experienced a grinding noise when accelerating, especially going uphill. It turned out to be a worn-out CV joint. Replacing it solved the problem completely!

Interesting, nlee! I had a similar sound, but it was my brake pads rubbing against the rotor. A quick replacement did the trick.

In my case, I only heard the grinding noise sporadically. Turns out, my transmission fluid was low. Topped it up and the noise has disappeared since!

Good tip, stephanie07! It’s amazing how something so simple can fix such a frustrating issue. I’ll check mine next time.

I have this problem too and I’ve been wondering if it might be related to the exhaust system. The sound seems to come from under the car. Anyone else experienced this?

Yes! I had a similar situation where a loose heat shield was vibrating. After tightening it, the noise was gone.

Every time I hear grinding, I just blame it on gremlins. But seriously, I used to have grinding problems when accelerating after hitting potholes. It was the alignment; got it fixed and all is well!

Haha, good one, danny10! I’ve had my own suspicions about gremlins, but for me, it was just rusted brake components. A good clean fixed it up!

I’ve been reading you all and it seems like the noise can happen for so many reasons! What would you recommend as a preventative measure for these issues? Regular maintenance?
