Totally missed that! Torque is king for daily driving. I think headers can help you with both, though. Anyone here run a dyno test?
I haven’t done a dyno test, but before and after experiences from headers is positive for a lot of fans around here. A friend got a solid 15 HP increase!
That’s impressive! But just to play devil’s advocate, 15 HP can vary so much. It can be less if the rest of the system isn’t up to par, right? Sometimes you pays your money, and you takes your chances.
I’ve heard headers can add anywhere from 10 to 30 HP depending on the application. I installed a pair on my Mustang and saw a solid 25 HP gain on the dyno. Truly makes a difference in performance!
That’s a pretty decent range! I’m curious about the quality of headers too. Are expensive ones worth the extra cost?
Great question, @daytravis! I went with mid-range headers, and they yielded an extra 15 HP for my Civic. I think it’s all about matching them correctly to your vehicle’s setup.
I’ve installed several types of headers on different cars. From my experience, the difference really lies in the tuning afterward. Some guys report better results after a tune post-header installation.
Could you elaborate on what you mean by ‘matching’? Is it about the brand or type of header, or both?
Good point, @blairkaren! Make sure to consider the overall exhaust system. A good header alone won’t work miracles if the rest of your setup is lacking. Your car’s power band matters too!
Exactly! I once went cheap and saw next to no gains. Quality headers make a big difference!
Why is it always about quality? Can’t I just run some old headers and pretend I’m racing? Kidding aside, I believe the combination of components is key. Real results might surprise you!
Haha @tammyperez! Pretending you’re racing could work until you hit the gas! For those who have done it, did you notice any noticeable torque improvements as well?
Torque improvements are often seen with headers! On my truck, I got a 20 HP gain and felt the torque kick in earlier. It’s a great mod for street performance!
That sounds promising! What brand did you go with? I’m considering options for my Jeep.
