Looking for Feedback on 2011 Ford Mustang Shelby GT500 Performance

Absolutely! How often do you have to bring it in for service?

I’ve only had to bring mine in a couple of times a year, but I keep up with preventative maintenance. The only big issue was with the rear differential.

That’s good to know. Did you have to replace it entirely or was it a simpler fix?

I replaced mine due to some whining noises. It was around $1,200 with labor, but better safe than sorry!

I’ve had my GT500 since new and had no major issues at all, just regular maintenance. It’s been super reliable for a performance car!

Sounds great, rebeccapalmer! Do you do all your own maintenance or rely on a shop?

I prefer taking it to a shop with experience. Plus, I don’t want to mess anything up with all the power these cars have!

Haha, totally get that! You definitely don’t want a costly mistake.

People exaggerate the reliability of performance cars. They can be fragile if not maintained right. Stay on top of it!

But, sometimes, it’s just bad luck, right? I’ve heard of folks having engine failures at low mileage and it’s disheartening!

I know! That was scary when it happened to my friend. He didn’t drive hard but still had to deal with that headache.

I’ve been modding my 2011 GT500 for a few years. An aftermarket tuner really woke up the engine. I went with a Roush supercharger; the power is insane! Definitely worth it for anyone seeking performance.

What kind of tuner did you use? I’ve heard great things about Bama and SCT tuners but want to know more.

I went with the SCT tuner along with a JLT intake. The combination really changed the throttle response and overall acceleration. Highly recommend it!

That sounds great! What about exhaust systems? I’ve been considering swapping mine for something more aggressive.

I installed a Borla ATAK and it completely transformed the sound of my car. It’s loud but not unbearable – perfect for a Shelby! You’ll love it, trust me.

I prefer a quieter exhaust for daily driving. The stock can be droning, but I added a MagnaFlow and it’s much more manageable.

Have any of you checked on weight reduction mods? I’ve been eyeing carbon fiber parts; they could improve handling significantly.

Carbon fiber is awesome! I swapped out my hood for a carbon one. Not only does it look incredible, but it saved a decent amount of weight. Handling feels sharper for sure!

Nice! Did you notice any difference in how the car feels at high speeds?
