Noid Light from Harbor Freight: Worth It?

I’ve had less luck with the Harbor Freight version. My light went out after just a few uses. I think spending a bit more on a name brand might be worth it in the long run.

That’s interesting, jdudley. I had a decent experience, but I’m curious—did you follow the setup like the instructions suggested? It can make a big difference in performance!

I hear you, westcalvin! I actually got mine on sale, which is why I pulled the trigger. It feels like more brands should have affordable options.

If you’re doing regular automotive work, it can be a lifesaver. I’ve used mine for multiple projects, and the value is just unbeatable. The simplicity gives you the confidence to try things yourself.

Good point! I’m a bit nervous about diagnosing electrical issues, but this might give me the confidence to do so.

I have to admit, I’m glad to see such mixed reviews. It helps guide my decision. Just curious, has anyone had experience with the noid lights from other places like AutoZone? How do they compare?

I’ve used noid lights from both Harbor Freight and AutoZone. My AutoZone version was definitely more reliable, but it also cost me double! Sometimes you really do get what you pay for.

That’s a fair point, mullinstammy. It seems like it could go either way, depending on your workload and how often you’ll need it.

I’ve been using the Noid Light from Harbor Freight, and it’s been great for diagnosing fuel injector issues. I recently had an injector that wasn’t firing, and the Noid Light confirmed it right away.

Has anyone had issues where the Noid Light flickers unexpectedly? I encountered that while testing, and I’m not sure whether it indicates a bad connection or an injector problem.

Flickering usually suggests that there’s a weak signal or intermittent connection. Check your wiring and plugs; they might need some maintenance. The Noid Light will guide you on that too!

That’s good to know! Would using electrical cleaner help fix these connections?

Absolutely! A contact cleaner can work wonders on corroded connections. Just ensure you let it dry before reconnecting. It made a difference in my setup!

Most Noid Lights are pretty universal, but it’s wise to double-check the specifications for your injectors. Some are designed for higher amperage and differ in connector style.

I’ve also faced some issues with different types of Noid Lights. Should you use specific ones for particular fuel injectors, or are they universal?

Got it! I didn’t realize that! What’s a common mistake people make when using Noid Lights?

A common mistake is assuming the Noid Light reflects injector condition without checking for voltage first. Always verify you have proper voltage going to the injector before blaming it!

I learned that the hard way! It’s frustrating thinking an injector is faulty when it could just be a power issue. The Noid Light saved me time once I figured that out.

Exactly! It’s a game-changer when troubleshooting. What about interpreting the light’s behavior? Any pro tips?
