I’ve been looking into ways to keep my older car running smoothly, especially since it has racked up quite a few miles over the years. I came across the STP High Mileage Oil Treatment and I’m curious to know more about it.

What is STP High Mileage Oil Treatment?

I’ve used STP High Mileage Oil Treatment in my 2005 Honda Accord with over 150,000 miles. I noticed smoother engine performance and less noise. Definitely worth a shot!

Well, I wouldn’t say I had issues, but my cousin used it and his engine started leaking. Coincidence or not, I’m not sure.

I haven’t used STP specifically, but I would recommend checking compatibility with synthetic oils. Generally, high mileage treatments work well with conventional and synthetic blends, but pure synthetics can sometimes interact differently.

Good point, @omoore. I’ve always used a synthetic blend in my Subaru Outback, and it seems to mesh well with the treatment. Anyone tried it in a diesel engine? Curious if it works effectively there.

STP is generally for gasoline engines, so I wouldn’t risk it in a diesel. I’d try Royal Purple or another treatment specifically designed for diesel engines instead.

I used it in my 2007 Ford F-150 and it was quite effective! My engine felt smoother, and the oil pressure seemed more stable. Just be sure to change your oil regularly, technology only supplements what’s already in place!

What’s the best way to apply it? Do you pour it in during an oil change or just add it to the existing oil? How often should you use it in a Honda Civic? I want to keep my mileage low ideally.
