What kind of gas does a Toyota Camry really need?

I did a test last year with 87 vs. 91 octane. Didn’t notice significant changes in fuel economy, but the higher grade did feel smoother on the highway.

I totally agree with corey36! It’s fascinating how the differences in fuel can sometimes be barely noticeable. I’m curious if it impacts longevity as well. Anyone had experiences with that?

Using the correct gas can definitely influence engine longevity! I kept using premium in my previous car thinking it would help, but in reality, it just wasted my money. Stick to what’s suggested in the manual, folks.

As per my experience, the Camry handles regular just fine. Even after 150,000 miles with careful maintenance, I’ve had no significant engine issues!

It’s good to hear positive stories like yours, ccox! My Camry just hit 100k miles and still runs beautifully on 87. I think regular gas is underrated.

So true! It just makes sense to follow the manufacturer’s advice. Any savings on premium won’t matter if my engine needs fixing prematurely!

Here’s a fun fact: My friend believes using premium gas gives his Camry ‘race car vibes’! Maybe he’s on to something, but I stick to good ol’ 87. Why change what works?

Haha! Who doesn’t want to feel like a race car driver? But honestly, my Camry performs just as well with regular gas, no flashy vibes needed!

I’ve read that Toyota Camrys perform best with regular unleaded gasoline. However, premium gasoline can enhance performance. Is it worth the extra cost?

It might be helpful to consider your driving habits! If you’re just commuting, regular gas should be fine. Premium can help if you’re always pushing your engine hard.

I always use ethanol blends in my Camry. They can be cheaper, but watch out for potential engine issues if your model can’t handle it. Research is key!

Absolutely! Each year, manufacturers change their recommendations. It’s worth checking your owner’s manual frequently.

My friend had issues with ethanol; their Camry didn’t perform well with it. It’s definitely something to consider depending on your model year!

Anyone tried adding an octane booster with lower octane fuel? I’m curious if it really makes a difference in performance.

Using an octane booster might help, but I recommend checking manufacturer guidelines first. Some engines might not need it.

That’s true! I’ve also heard that it could lead to unnecessary spending over time if it’s not really needed.

My Camry loves regular gas. Why complicate things? Premium has its perks, but I don’t see a huge benefit week to week.

It’s like buying fancy snacks; sometimes they taste better but do you really need them? Stick to what fits your budget and style.

I had a barista once tell me they only use premium. Made me feel guilty about my regular gas habit! Should I be more ‘premium’ conscious?

Just drive around with a smile, ajackson! The best gas is the one that fits your lifestyle—no guilt needed! Keep it simple.
