What’s the Best Car Glue for Plastic Parts?

Curing times can definitely vary, especially with temperature and humidity. Warmer conditions usually speed things up.

I’ve experienced that too! Waiting longer seems to make a difference—better safe than sorry.

One tip I learned: clamp the parts together after applying glue. It keeps the pressure on and helps with bonding!

That’s a great tip, Katie! Clamping helps a lot, especially for uneven surfaces. What about reinforcements—should I use a mesh?

I haven’t tried mesh reinforcements, but it sounds interesting! I usually just rely on the glue itself. Anyone else used that method?

I’ve used mesh with resin before; it gives extra strength! Just be careful with the application—too much and it can get messy!

Messy, indeed! I once had glue all over my hands and random spots—glad it was just a hobby project!

In hindsight, I learned that preparation is half the battle! If I had only paid more attention to cleaning, I could’ve saved a lot of headaches.

Haha, definitely! It’s the little things that trip us up. What’s your go-to cleaning method, Gallen?

I’m really looking for a glue that can withstand different temperatures and moisture. I’ve used a few but they don’t seem to hold over time. Any recommendations?

I’ve had good results with E6000. It’s flexible and handles temperature changes well, but it does take a while to cure.

I’ve tried E6000 too, but I found it to be a bit too rubbery for some applications. I prefer super glue specifically meant for plastics, like Loctite Plastics Adhesive.

I was skeptical about super glue at first, but I’ve had solid results with Loctite in humid weather! It holds really well under stress.

Has anyone used Gorilla Glue for plastic? I hear it expands as it cures, which might help with bonding in irregular shapes.

I’ve used it, and while it works on some plastics, I’ve found it can be messy and it’s less effective in temperature fluctuations. Just a heads up!

I’ve had mixed experiences with Gorilla Glue too. In higher humidity, I’ve seen it fail. Has anyone tried the 3M adhesives?

3M does make some solid bonding solutions! Their double-sided tape is excellent for certain applications, but for more permanent bonds, I recommend 3M Plastic & Emblem Adhesive.

Good to know! I might try that next. I’m really keen on something that won’t budge with time and temperature changes.

Just a thought—what about JB Weld? I’ve used it for plastic repairs, and it’s held up quite well, even against the elements.

Haha, I thought JB Weld was just for metal! Interesting! Maybe I need to explore that option too.
