Toyo Extensa A/S Review: How good is it?

Hello and welcome to my Toyo Extensa A/S Review.

That occasional road trip with your family is often an exciting time for everyone within the clan. Carrying your bosom friends makes it even livelier.

But there’s one thing:

The many miles on the road can be punishing for your tires.

Experts will tell you this:

The sure way is to go for tires designed to last the distance for your family car. Or your mini-van, if that’s what you find cozy. This brings me to the rising all-season performer in the Toyo Extensa A/S tire. Parking an extended tread and a comfortable ride, the Toyo Extensa A/S tire has been known to deliver in wet, snowy, and also dry conditions. It should thus take you and your family safely to the summer camp they have been pestering you about.

Who is this tire for?

As I have said, the Toyo Extensa A/S tire is a trusted brand for a big number of family/passenger cars and mini-vans. This Toyo Extensa A/S tire review explains that the tire is purposed to be an all-season drive and because of the wide shoulder rib which reduces irregular wear and tear on top of increasing stability on the road, it works well with a wide range of cars. Dodge Charger, Toyota Prius, Toyota camry, Chevrolet Malibu, Honda accord, Ford fusion, Kia Optima, Volkswagen Passat, and Nissan Altima are just some of the examples.

Popular mini-vans such as Dodge Grand Caravan, Honda Odyssey, Kia Sedona, Nissan Quest and Toyota Sienna are also ideal fits for this Toyo tire. But overall, it’s versatile enough for sports coupes, sedans, and small crossovers.

What terrain is it mostly suited for?

The strength for this car tire lies in a fairly quiet ride, an extended tread life- which is a common feature among all-season tires- and a year-round performance. Looking at the Toyo Extensa A/S tire engineering, you can easily understand these results. First, it comes with the Symmetric tread design which normally delivers an improved grip on almost all conditions.

Then, the Toyo Extensa A/S tire has undergone extensive multi-wave siping which is what gives the tire the traction that enables it to drive safely in wet, snowy or icy conditions. Such features, of course, make it a good bet for your winter driving needs. Turning to dry seasons, the dense sipping also helps control the tire’s heat helping it to remain cool and steady when the summer shine is at its peak.

With this Toyo Extensa A/S tire, you will learn that the tire should also come through for you during dry and steaming conditions.  All-season tires also lightly indulge gravel roads- though it’s clearly not their forte and this is no exception. Of course, if you’re always into remote rough roads riding adventures, it’s better to look at available all-terrain tires. Otherwise, this could be the perfect compromise between summer/winter tires and paved/off-road drives.

One more thing:

It’s true that the four extra-wide circumferential grooves help to sweep water and greatly boosts its performance in ice but don’tover-stretch its patience – its wet traction is a bit down and only good for lightwinter driving.

What about comfort?

Do you recall what we said about the Toyo Extensa A/S tire’s multi-wave sipes? You definitely enjoy a super-smooth, and quieter ride. Further to this, the rib design coupled with the symmetrical blocks also help to make rides smoother and more predictable.

This means that whether driving on wet roads or dry pavements, these all-season tires are primed to offer cool rides thanks to a relaxed handling of bumps and potholes. And as we had mentioned, this is by extension to be expected from this class of tires. Indeed, one of the reasons why some high-end brands including the bridgestone’s Ecopia EP422 Plus and Firestone Destination LE2 tires have built a solid reputation is because of their extremely comfortable drives.

The ride is also very straight meaning your passengers will barely sense as you maneuver bumpy terrain and potholes.

It certainly hits a lot of spots, but is it expensive?

Now to that all-important question:

How affordable is the Toyo’s Toyo extensa A/S tire?

Now, we have already looked at most of this tire’s admirable features like the symmetric tread design, wave-siping, extra-wide circumferential grooves, and the interesting tread wear indicator which keeps you updated about  the level of tearing .

It also has 2 steel belts while the whole tire body is enhanced with a strong polyester cord in order to add to the tire’s longevity and resilience even on challenging drives. Well, I have to admit that this is pretty much a budget tire with prices starting at $50 – $133.40 which is within the range for most of its competition including the Cooper Starfire RS-C 2.0 or the Travelstar UN33 All-Season.

You can also inquire from your local dealer about discounts and special offers. It also comes in a variety of sizes- as many as 52 meaning you can hardly miss one to fit your passenger car. The fact that it comes with a 65,000 miles tread warranty shows the level of confidence the company has in this tire.

Should I buy it?

While we can’t anoint it the champion among all-seasons for family cars and such vehicles, it’s note worthy that the Toyo’s Toyo Extensa A/S tire returns good scores in a majority of the crucial areas.

You will be enjoying a versatile performance and a comfortable drive in multiple conditions including in snowing roads and during summer drives. The stability, efficient handling of bumps, and cornering, and sticky grip are the other hallmarks here. Overall, we feel that the company isn’t very far off when they say that this is one of the best all-season tires for family cars and mini-vans.

However, the wet traction is a bit wanting so if you’re driving off in massive frost you could be disappointed. If you’re after a wet surface champion, you may look at the Road Venture -AT51 or any other specialized winter tire.

Otherwise, superb all-season handling and cozy rides could make the Toyo Extensa A/S tire a worthy choice for your Dodge Charger, Toyota Prius, Toyota camry, or Kia Sedona.
