Anyone else having problems with their 2012 Honda Odyssey?

Discussing Problems with the 2012 Honda Odyssey

I’ve been diving into some discussions about the 2012 Honda Odyssey, and it seems like a lot of owners are facing some common issues. I wanted to start a thread where we can all share our experiences and advice regarding these problems.

Here are some of the problems that I’ve heard about:

  • Transmission Issues: Some users report rough shifting or hesitation when accelerating. This can be quite concerning, especially if you’re planning on long drives.
  • Air Conditioning Problems: A few people have experienced AC failure, which can be a real pain during hot summer days.
  • Electrical Issues: There have been mentions of problems with the dashboard lights and other electrical components malfunctioning randomly.
  • Brakes: Some seem to have had issues with premature wear or squeaking noises, raising safety concerns.

If you currently own a 2012 Odyssey or had experience with one, would love to hear if you’ve encountered these problems, and how you’ve dealt with them. Also, any tips on preventative measures would be great. Let’s help each other out here!

Looking forward to your replies!

I’ve been having major trouble with my 2012 Honda Odyssey transmission. It slips more often than I’d like, especially when accelerating. Anyone else experience this?

Yes! I experienced similar issues with mine. It started slipping around 70,000 miles. I took it to the dealer, and they suggested a fluid change, which did help somewhat.

I came across some reports indicating that transmission issues are pretty common in the 2012 model. It’s frustrating considering it’s supposed to be a reliable family vehicle.

I’m glad I’m not alone in this. My engine performance also occasionally feels off, like it’s struggling to keep power. Has anyone dealt with that?

For me, it started to happen after my last oil change. I had a mechanic check it, and they suggested it was likely a spark plug issue.

Wow, I haven’t had any spark plug problems yet, but I do notice my brakes have started making strange noises, especially at lower speeds. Is that a common issue, too?

Yes, absolutely! Mine began squealing around 60,000 miles. I ended up having to replace the pads and rotors because it got so bad.

Has anyone considered filing a complaint? I’ve read online that several others have had these issues, and it could warrant a recall discussion.

I’ve thought about it! It’s frustrating to know so many are having similar problems. A little action might go a long way.

I think they’ll deny it since it’s an ‘older’ model now, but it can’t hurt to try. Has anyone experienced any luck with contacting Honda’s customer service?

I tried reaching out about the braking issue, but they just offered me a discount on my next service. Not helpful at all!

It’s like they’re only interested in selling you stuff! Sometimes I wonder if I should just switch to a different brand altogether.

Switching brands?! Come on, this is just some bad luck! Let’s find ways to fix what we can first before jumping ship.

I just laugh it off sometimes. I call my Odyssey the drama queen of vans. It keeps life interesting!

Definitely has an interesting personality! I just hope it doesn’t blow up before we find a solution. Thanks for sharing everyone!

I’ve been having issues with the power sliding doors. They sometimes refuse to close completely, which is a hassle, especially when the kids are getting in and out. Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes! My sliding door also gets stuck. I found that lubricating the tracks helps a bit. Still, it’s frustrating when it happens, isn’t it?

Same here! The dashboard warning lights seem to go crazy sometimes, especially the battery and oil lights. My mechanic couldn’t find anything wrong. What did you do?
