Anyone know good junk yards on Shepherd in Houston?

I’m looking for some reliable junk yards or automotive salvage yards on or near Shepherd Drive in Houston. I need to find used auto parts for my car and possibly get rid of an old vehicle. If anyone has recommendations or firsthand experiences with specific places, I would really appreciate it!

Here are a few things I’m particularly interested in:

  • Used auto parts: I’m especially looking for parts for a 2005 Honda Civic.
  • Vehicle purchase options: Any junk yards that sell vehicles as well?
  • Recycling services: What’s the best way to sell or recycle my old car?

Thanks in advance for your advice! Any tips or pointers would be super helpful!

I’ve had great luck at the junk yard on Shepherd near 43rd. They have a decent selection and the staff is pretty helpful. Just make sure to go during the morning as it gets crowded later in the day.

I totally agree with you! I visited that place last week, and they had exactly what I needed. Plus, the parking is pretty accessible.

The one on Shepherd near the Loop is okay, but I found it a bit messy. You might have to dig around for parts. Just go in with a little patience!

I visited the junk yard near 46th last month. Good operating hours too! They’re open 8 AM to 6 PM, which is nice for after-work visits.

Thanks for the info! That’s super helpful, especially since I usually get off work late. Might check it out this weekend.

Anyone know if that junk yard on Shepherd has a website? I’d like to check for parts availability before heading over.

I don’t think they do—most junk yards around there tend to be old school. I recommend calling ahead! Saves you a trip if they don’t have what you need.

I went to one on Shepherd last month, and it was quite a trek to navigate through. If you’re not great with directions, you’d better get a map!

Haha! Good advice! I get lost easily, so I appreciate that tip! Maybe I’ll just use GPS instead.

I had a hilarious experience at a junk yard once. Thought I was picking up parts for my car, but ended up with an old garden gnome instead! Sometimes junk yards are a treasure hunt!

I’ve had good experiences at Texas Auto Salvage on Shepherd. They have a decent selection of used parts and the prices are fair. I’ve found everything from engines to body panels there.

I totally agree! I got a great deal on a used radiator there. Just be sure to check the part numbers before you buy!

You might also want to check out U-Pull-It. They let you pull your own parts, which can save you a lot. Just bring your tools and be prepared to get a little dirty!

I’ve been there! It’s a bit chaotic, but you can find some real gems if you dig around. Just watch out for that muddy ground!

What kind of parts are you looking for specifically? I’ve been told that Pick-n-Pull has great deals on interior pieces occasionally.

I’m looking for some fenders and bumpers for my old Honda. Any specific recommendations?

You should definitely hit up Auto Parts Recycling. They often have a good stock of Honda parts. Prices were quite reasonable last time I checked, and the staff is really helpful.

Auto parts can be hit or miss, but that’s part of the thrill, right? Hopefully, we can see what’s out there next time I go for a visit!

I’ve heard mixed reviews about that place. Some say the parts are great, while others claim they’re not too reliable.
