Anyone swapped a Corvette motor into their Silverado?

I’m looking into the feasibility of swapping a Corvette engine into my Chevrolet Silverado. I know both vehicles have a lot of potential, but I’m particularly interested in hearing about:

  • Compatibility: What modifications are necessary to make the engine fit?
  • Performance Gains: How much of a difference can I expect in horsepower and torque?
  • Challenges: What are some common issues or pitfalls to be aware of during this swap?
  • Cost: What should I budget for this project, including parts and labor?
  • Experiences: Has anyone here done this swap? What was your experience like, and do you have any tips?

I’m really eager to enhance my Silverado’s performance, but I want to make sure I’m well-informed before diving in. Any insights or personal stories would be greatly appreciated!

I’ve been thinking about swapping a Corvette motor into my Silverado too! The LS3 from 2008-2015 Corvettes seems to be a great fit for the 2007-2013 Silverados. Anyone else have experience with that combo?

That’s right! The LS3 has a solid power output, and it’s a popular choice. Just make sure you get the right transmission to match it!

Isn’t it also possible to swap in the LT1 from the newer Corvettes? It has improved fuel efficiency and still delivers impressive power. Would that also fit with a 2014 Silverado?

Absolutely! The LT1 from 2014 and up can work, but you’ll need to deal with some additional wiring to make it all compatible.

Compatibility is key! Make sure you check the motor mounts and oil pan clearance, especially with older models. I’ve heard the 99-06 Corvettes have issues fitting into Silverados without modifications.

Good point! It seems like the LS1 needs a bit of tweaking to fit nicely into a Silverado. That might be a deal breaker for some.

I’m leaning towards the LS7. More power! But any advice on driveline issues? I don’t want to compromise my truck’s performance.

LS7 is a beast! Just ensure you have a sturdy drivetrain, or you might end up breaking something.

If I might ask, has anyone done this swap themselves? I’d love to hear about the challenges you faced and how you resolved them.

I did the swap last year! Lots of research, but totally worth it. Wiring was a hassle, but with the right resources, you can manage it!

It’s good to know it can be done! I felt like this was just a crazy idea, but it sounds like there are options out there. Thanks for the support!

Swapping a Corvette motor into a Silverado can be a rewarding project! Make sure you have the right engine mounts and a compatible transmission to avoid headaches during installation.

Absolutely! I also recommend checking your wiring harness. Sometimes those Corvette setups can get tricky.

I did the swap last summer. The biggest challenge was aligning everything perfectly. Take your time with the mounting brackets!

That’s so true! And don’t forget about the cooling system; you may need an upgraded radiator.

Has anyone experienced issues with the ECU during the swap? I’d love to hear about any solutions you found.

Yes, I had to reprogram mine to get everything working smoothly. It’s essential to ensure compatibility!

Don’t forget the exhaust system! A Corvette engine can produce more power, so consider aftermarket options for better flow.

Good point! A friend of mine went with headers and noticed a significant improvement in performance.
