Anyone Tried Side View Mirror Tint? Looking for Tips!

But isn’t it more expensive? Sometimes DIY can be fulfilling—even if it ends up messy.

Haha, true! Just be prepared to spend hours on it if you’re going DIY. But hey, if you mess up your car, that’s a story! Maybe a blog post idea?

I might take the plunge and blog the experience. Either way, I’m grateful for all the insight shared here.

I’ve been thinking about tinting my side view mirrors too! Just to keep the sun out of my eyes. But I learned that in some states, overly tinted mirrors can be illegal. Make sure to check your local laws first!

That’s a great idea! I tinted mine fairly lightly because I live in California. Just know that the tint should not be darker than 70% visible light transmission on mirrors.

It’s a fun topic! I appreciate the heads up about regulations—who knew mirrors had laws? Everyone should check their state’s DMV website for specifics. It’s often updated and very helpful.

That’s exactly what I did, @andrewmorales! The laws can vary so much. I’m in Texas, and we can have some tint, but not too dark or it can attract unwanted attention—but tinted mirrors do look cool!

Same here! I think the main reason for regulations is to ensure visibility. We all want to look stylish but safety first!

It’s so true! Plus, if you really want that tint, you can always explore other materials that comply with the laws, such as film with a visible light transmission that matches the legal requirements.

I just got mine done and have to say it looks slick! But I still double-checked the laws in my state, and luckily, I’m on the right side of things. It’s all about blending style with safety, right?

Exactly! But I heard some places don’t allow any tint on mirrors at all! What’s the deal with that?

Good question, @victor60! It’s about ensuring that drivers have a clear view. A little bit of tint is often acceptable, but some states just go full stop for mirrors to avoid any mix-ups. Regulations can be tricky!

Haha, who would have thought a side mirror could stir up so much debate? I’m all for style, but maybe I should just stick to basic tint for legality’s sake. Anyone ever tried those clear UV-protecting films?
