How's the gas mileage on a 2015 Subaru Forester?

I’ve been looking into getting a 2015 Subaru Forester and I’m curious about its gas mileage. I know it’s generally seen as a reliable vehicle, but I want to get a better idea of what to expect in terms of fuel efficiency.

Here are a few specific questions I have:

  • What’s the average MPG for city and highway driving?
  • Are there any reports of better or worse mileage depending on the trim level?
  • How does it compare to other compact SUVs in the same class?
  • Any tips for getting the most out of the fuel efficiency?

Would love to hear any experiences, insights, or tips anyone has on this! Thanks in advance!

I have a 2015 Forester and I usually get around 25-27 mpg combined. Mostly city driving with some highway trips. I keep up with maintenance regularly, which helps!

That’s pretty close to my experience! I get about 24 mpg in the city but have hit 30 on the highway. Keeping the tires inflated really makes a difference.

I’ve noticed that my gas mileage can vary significantly depending on my driving style. I tend to accelerate slowly and coast to stoplights, which gives me better mileage. Anyone else do this?

I do the same! It’s amazing how much that helps. I’ve managed about 28 mpg combined with that technique.

I usually get around 22 mpg when it’s mostly city driving. I try to avoid heavy traffic but that can be tricky! Has anyone tried premium fuel? Curious if it impacts mileage.

I tried premium once, and honestly, I saw no noticeable difference in mileage. Just a bit more expensive!

My Forester’s gas mileage is around 26 mpg overall. I think it helps that I keep it well-maintained. Regular oil changes and following the maintenance schedule are key.

Absolutely! Regular maintenance is crucial. I wonder if they designed the engine in a way that really benefits from it.

I’ve been getting about 23 mpg, but it drops to 20 in winter with all the cold starts. Winter tires make it worse too. Anyone else feel this drop?

Yes! Winter definitely affects it. If only we could store that gas for summer! Just kidding…but it feels like a waste.

I just love how versatile the Forester is, but I wasn’t too happy about the mileage I got on a recent road trip. Around 24 mpg on the highway. It could be better!

I’ve owned a 2015 Subaru Forester for a couple of years now. Overall, I get about 25 MPG combined, but I think there are ways to improve that.

Absolutely! Regular maintenance is key. Ensure your tires are properly inflated and your air filter is clean. Little things can make a big difference.

I’ve heard that gentle acceleration and smooth braking can significantly enhance your fuel efficiency. Try to avoid hard starts!

That’s true! I also try to plan my trips in a way that minimizes stop-and-go traffic, which saves fuel.

I’ve been considering some upgrades. Has anyone tried a performance tuner? Heard it might help with fuel mileage.

I have not, but I’ve read that they can optimize fuel mapping. Just make sure it’s compatible with Subarus.

I wouldn’t rush to upgrades. Sometimes just checking your driving habits makes a world of difference. Who needs to spend money when adjusting habits can yield results?

True! It’s all about balance. Maybe a mix of both habit changes and some minor upgrades could be effective.
