Lexus GX 470 Won't Start After Battery Replacement - Help Needed!

I’ve recently replaced the battery in my Lexus GX 470, but now it’s refusing to start. I’ve checked all the connections and ensured the new battery is properly installed, but I can’t figure out what the issue might be.

Here’s what I’ve done so far:

  • Checked Battery Connections: Double-checked that the terminals are clean and tight.
  • Fuses: Looked over the relevant fuses under the hood and inside the car, but they seem fine.
  • Lights and Electronics: The lights, radio, and other electronics come on without issue, so I’m wondering if it’s something else.

I’m thinking it might be:

  • Starter issues?
  • Ignition switch problems?
  • Something else entirely?

If anyone has any tips on what I should check next or any diagnostics I could run, I would really appreciate it! Let’s see if we can get this beast running again. Thanks in advance!

I had a similar issue with my GX 470 after a battery change. It turned out to be the starter motor! Check if it’s clicking when you turn the key.

I agree! If it clicks but doesn’t start, it might be the starter solenoid. Sometimes, just tapping the starter can help, if you’re feeling handy!

Definitely check the ignition system too. If the battery was replaced and connections were loose, it might not be firing properly.

True! Not to mention, remember to look at fuses. A blown ignition fuse could be the culprit here as well.

Sometimes, fuel delivery issues can mimic battery problems. Have you checked the fuel pump? It might be worth testing.

Good point! A weak fuel pump or clogged filter can definitely cause starting problems. Don’t forget to check for error codes too!

I’m here too! This is stressful, right? If you’ve replaced the battery and all else fails, have you considered that the anti-theft system might be acting up?

You know, I once had a car that wouldn’t start because of a silly loose connection. It’s worth checking all your battery terminals and ground connections, just to be safe!

Absolutely! Sometimes, it’s the simplest things that keep us guessing. If it’s none of that, try a scan tool for diagnostics!

I remember reading that the GX 470 has some common electrical issues. It might be time to consult a mechanic if you’re not getting anywhere.

For sure! But don’t let them charge you a fortune without checking the simple stuff first.

What would you guys do if, after all this, it still won’t start? I’d probably start contemplating a new car!

Haha! Hopefully, it doesn’t come to that! I’d try everything before giving up on the GX 470. It’s too good to let go easily.

This is turning into quite the puzzle, isn’t it? I’d love to hear what you find out in the end!

I had this problem too! First, make sure you have a Group 24F battery. You’ll also need a basic set of tools like a wrench and socket set. Remember to disconnect the negative terminal first for safety!

Great tip! Don’t forget to check the battery terminals for corrosion. A good clean can help ensure a proper connection after replacing the battery.

When you replace the battery, make sure to wear gloves and goggles. It’s vital for safety since battery acid can be harmful if it spills. Just some precautionary measures!

Exactly! Also, remember to keep the battery upright while handling it. Don’t want to mess with acid leakage!

Is there a specific brand of battery you guys recommend? I want to avoid any compatibility issues.
