I’ve been running Super Sports on my car for about a year now, and while I’ve loved the grip, they wear down pretty fast, about 10k miles max for me. Anyone had a similar experience?
That’s exactly what happened to me with the Super Sports! I found myself replacing them too often, which added up cost-wise.
I’m curious about the performance in wet conditions. Has anyone noticed if one tire performs better when it rains? My Super Sports seem to lose grip faster on wet roads.
I’ve noticed similar issues, jacksonantonio. The Pilot Sport 4S handles wet conditions much better and gives me more confidence while driving.
Funny enough, I actually had a set of Super Sports on my car and I used to call them ‘Super Short’ because of the wear rate! They were great performance-wise, but I couldn’t justify the expense after a while.
Haha, that’s a good one, gracethomas! Maybe that’s why they make the 4S— to save us from constantly buying tires!
In reflection, I think the Pilot Sport 4S is a wiser investment for daily driving due to longevity, while the Super Sport should just be a track tire. Everyone has their needs, though!
I’ve owned both the Pilot Sport 4S and the Super Sport. The 4S is indeed more cost-effective for everyday driving with better wet traction and comfort. Worth the investment!
I agree, but I think the Super Sport offers better handling on the track. If you’re a performance driver, maybe the higher cost justifies the performance benefits.
When evaluating cost-effectiveness, the performance longevity of each tire matters too. I found my Super Sports wore down quicker than the 4S. Have others experienced this?
Totally! I switched to 4S after my second set of Super Sports. Not only did I save on replacements, but my ride feels way better!
I’ve used the 4S for daily driving, and I think it offers great value. Performance is outstanding, especially for the price compared to the Super Sport. You really get what you pay for!
Does anyone feel that the performance of the Super Sport is worth the extra money? I’m tempted to upgrade but unsure if it’s necessary for just weekend drives.
If you’re only using it on weekends, the 4S might make more sense. It’s great for spirited driving without the overkill of the Super Sport!
Honestly, I think both tires are fantastic. The 4S is just a better value unless you really need the ultimate grip of the Super Sport for serious racing. Just my thoughts!
If I had a dollar for every time I debated between these tires! I ended up sticking with the 4S, and I honestly don’t regret it. Who needs to be broke for some better performance?
Couldn’t agree more! The Super Sports are a great tire, but the value proposition just isn’t there for light-to-moderate use.
What’s the typical price difference between these two tires? I’m curious if it’s enough to sway my decision!
It usually ranges from $100-$150 more for the Super Sport. But for enthusiasts, that extra bit might be easily justifiable!
