Questions About Tanks Inc Fuel Pump - Need Help!

I’ve been looking into replacing the fuel pump in my classic car and I’ve come across Tanks Inc fuel pumps. I’m trying to figure out if they’re a good option for my setup. Here are a few questions I have:

Questions:

  • Reliability: How reliable are Tanks Inc fuel pumps? Have you had any issues with them?
  • Installation: What’s the process like for installation? Are there specific tools I need, or is it pretty straightforward?
  • Performance: For those who’ve used them, how do they perform compared to other brands? Are they compatible with EFI systems easily?
  • Reviews: Any personal experiences you can share? I’d love to know how they’ve worked out for others.

Additional Info:

I’m particularly looking at their in-tank options for a Chevrolet project I’m working on. If anyone has tips or recommendations based on their experiences, I’d really appreciate it! Thanks in advance for your help!

I recently installed a Tanks Inc fuel pump in my project car. Best thing you can do is read the manual thoroughly first! You’ll need basic tools like a socket set and a multimeter for testing.

Absolutely! The manual has specifics that can save you a lot of headaches. Also, make sure to have a clean workspace and some rags handy for spills.

I’ve always found that having an extra set of hands helps, especially when you’re aligning the pump and the tank. Has anyone here had issues sealing it properly?

Yes! I had a leak right after installation. It turned out I didn’t tighten the screws enough. Double-check your seals and torque specs!

Don’t forget to check for proper wiring connections once everything’s installed. A loose wire can lead to frustrating issues later down the line!

Did you guys remember to use anti-seize on the screws? I’ve seen them seize up over time and cause issues with removal later. What’s everyone’s take on this?

I always use anti-seize! Better safe than sorry, right? Also, do you need a specific gauge of wire for the pump?

For wiring, 16 to 14 gauge is generally recommended for Tanks Inc pumps. Just make sure it’s rated for fuel use. You don’t want any shorts or fires.

True! Safety first! Always a good idea to check the ground connections too. Anyone dealt with faulty grounds before?

Ground issues can be a nightmare! I actually replaced my pump thinking it was faulty, and it turned out to be a bad ground! Test it to be sure before jumping to conclusions.

Great advice! Also, I find using a little flashlight can help you spot any hidden connections. Who would have thought, right?

Haha, right? A little light can lead to big discoveries! By the way, has anyone tried using a rubber mallet to seat the pump correctly? Just curious if it works!

I’ve never used a mallet, but I think I’d be too nervous to try that! I prefer to gently wiggle it into place. But if it helps, why not?

Every little tip counts! I reflect on my own installs, and there’s always something new to learn. Definitely share more as you all tackle your tanks!

I’m glad you brought this up! I’ve been considering the Tanks Inc fuel pumps and would love to hear more about their reliability compared to others.

I’ve installed a Tanks Inc pump before, and I found it pretty reliable. However, the noise level was higher than I expected!

Tanks Inc pumps generally have good reviews! I’ve checked various forums, and many users mention their long lifespan and good performance.

That’s great to hear! I wonder how they fare in very hot weather conditions though.
