Thinking About a Used Volkswagen e-Golf? Need Some Feedback!

I’m in the market for a used Volkswagen e-Golf and would love to gather some insights from you all. Here are a few things I’m particularly curious about:

Condition & Reliability

  • What have been your experiences with the e-Golf’s reliability? Any recurring issues I should be aware of?
  • How do the batteries hold up over time?

Price & Value

  • What kind of prices have you seen for used models? Are there common deals or places where I can find better prices?
  • Do you think the e-Golf holds its value well compared to other electric cars?

Features & Performance

  • Which features do you find most valuable in the e-Golf? Are there any must-have options?
  • How does the performance compare to other small hatchbacks or electric vehicles?

Buying Tips

  • Any advice on what I should look for when inspecting a used e-Golf? What are common red flags?
  • Recommendations for trustworthy dealerships or online marketplaces?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts and experiences! Thanks in advance!

I’ve had my used e-Golf for over a year now, and I love it! The battery life is solid; I can easily get 120 miles on a full charge, even with regular city driving.

That’s great to hear! What do you think about the maintenance costs? Are there any big surprises?

Maintenance has been pretty straightforward for me. Regular checks and nothing out of the ordinary. Just keep an eye on those tires!

Interesting! Have you experienced any battery degradation during your time with it?

No noticeable degradation yet! I think it’s important how you charge the battery. I always use a level 2 charger, and that helps maintain its health.

That’s a smart tip! I’ve also seen some complaints about charging ports malfunctions in older models. Have you encountered that?

I haven’t had that issue, but I’ve read online that it can happen. Always good to check the condition of the charging port before buying a used one.

What about the driving experience? Any quirks or downsides?

Honestly, it’s fun to drive! Quick acceleration and smooth handling. Just keep in mind, it’s not as powerful on the freeway at higher speeds.

Quick acceleration is a delightful surprise for an EV! Does it handle well in snow or rain? I’ve heard mixed reviews.

Great in wet conditions thanks to the low center of gravity. Snow can be tricky without good tires though, so be prepared!

Sounds promising! Just hope I don’t land one with a lemon battery.

Declare your intent early, and ask for a battery health report. It’s a must for used EVs! Anyone else have battery war stories?

I had a lemon battery on a used Leaf. Lessons learned! Fingers crossed for you!

I’m sensing a pattern here! EVs can be a gamble, right?

True, but I think the e-Golf has a solid reputation overall. Just ask the right questions and you should avoid missteps!

I’ve been driving a used Volkswagen e-Golf for a year now. The total cost of ownership is quite reasonable compared to traditional cars. The average insurance is lower, and maintenance has been a breeze since it’s mostly electric.

That’s great to hear! What would you say is the average maintenance cost for it?

I’ve found that maintenance costs can be as low as $250 a year. It’s mostly tire rotations and basic checks, nothing major. Compare that to a gas vehicle, and it’s a massive win.
