What Lift Kit Options are Best for a 2005 Toyota Sequoia?

I’m considering lifting my 2005 Toyota Sequoia and looking for some advice. I’ve been doing some research on lift kits, but there are so many options out there. Here are some specific things I’m curious about:

Lift Kit Types

  • What types of lift kits are available for the 2005 Sequoia? (e.g., body lift vs. suspension lift)
  • Are there certain brands that you recommend?

Installation

  • Is it something I can install myself, or do I need to go to a professional?
  • If I can do it myself, what tools do I need?
  • Any installation tips?

Pricing

  • What’s a general price range I should expect for a good lift kit?
  • Does the cost vary significantly between brands or types?

Reviews and Personal Experiences

  • Have any of you lifted your Sequoia? How’s the ride quality afterward?
  • Any pros and cons I should be aware of?

Your input would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for the help!

I’m considering lift kits for my 2005 Sequoia too! I’ve heard that both spacer lift kits and full suspension kits are popular options. Spacers are budget-friendly, but full kits provide better performance. What do you all think?

Absolutely! Spacers can give you a lift but may not improve ride quality like a full suspension lift does. You really have to consider how you plan to use your Sequoia.

What about needing more off-road capability? A suspension lift not only gives height but better articulation for rough terrains. Just make sure the kit is compatible with 2005 models!

That’s right! Also watch out for your overall vehicle height after installation. You may need to adjust bumpers and consider the impact on your driveline.

And tires! Don’t forget to factor in the size of the tires you plan to use after lifting. It’s a holistic approach; lift, tires, and even gearing can all affect performance.

Absolutely! Higher tires can enhance the look but might add strain. Have you thought about the additional wear on components from bigger tires?

I’m leaning towards a full suspension lift because I’m an off-roading enthusiast. Has anyone used the Toytec lift kits? I’ve heard great reviews.

Yes, the Toytec kits are excellent! They offer a nice balance of lift, comfort, and off-road capability. Just ensure you’re ready for the installation effort involved.

Installation can be a pain! I did a 3-inch lift myself and let’s just say, I’m glad I had a friend help to hold tools—my wife thought I was going to break something!

Haha, I’m sure! It’s definitely a team effort. Just make sure you have all the right tools ready to make the process smoother. Good luck with whatever you choose!

I’ve had great success with a 3-inch lift kit from Toytec for my 2005 Sequoia. The installation was pretty straightforward, but make sure you have a buddy to help you with the heavy lifting!

That’s awesome, perrydavid! I’ve heard their kits are top-notch. Did you face any challenges during the install?

Definitely consider the Bilstein shock absorbers to go with your lift kit. They improved my ride quality significantly after the lift. Just be prepared for some modifications to the upper control arms!

Great tip, jackieharper! I’m curious, did you do the install yourself, or did you hire a pro?

I did it myself, but I encountered some rusted bolts. A good penetrating oil helped loosen them up. Just give yourself extra time if you’re working with an older vehicle like the Sequoia.

I went for the ReadyLift kit last year and had a mixed experience. The install was simple, but the ride felt a bit harsher than expected. Anyone else feel that with their setups?

I’ve heard mixed things about ReadyLift. It seems to work well for some but not for others. Did you end up adjusting anything to improve the ride comfort?

I haven’t adjusted anything yet, but I’ve read that upgrading to higher quality shocks can help. I’d love some recommendations if anyone has them!

If you’re considering better shocks, I’ve had a positive experience with Fox shocks. They really dialed in the ride for my Sequoia after lifting it. Definitely worth looking into!
