I’ve been researching headlight bulbs, and it seems like halogen bulbs are the most common. They’re affordable but not the brightest. Has anyone switched to HID or LED?
I totally agree! Halogen bulbs are easy to replace and cost-effective, but LED bulbs last longer and are much brighter. I switched to LED a few months ago, and it’s been great!
HIDs (Xenon) are awesome for illumination and have that cool blue tint, but they can be pricey and might require a special ballast. Worth it for better visibility, though!
I’ve installed LED bulbs in my car, and I love how bright they are compared to halogens. But I hear they can sometimes cause glare for oncoming drivers. Has anyone else had this issue?
You got it! Halogens typically last about 500-1000 hours, while LEDs can last over 25,000 hours! That’s a huge difference when you consider changing them frequently.
I recently switched to LED bulbs from halogens, and the difference in brightness is amazing! Just remember, some LED bulbs can be too long and cause issues fitting in the housing.
That’s great to hear, amendez! I’d recommend checking your vehicle’s manual to see which bulbs fit best. Also, wear gloves when handling bulbs—oils from your fingers can reduce their lifespan.
I’ve had success with Sylvania bulbs. They’re pretty reliable! But I made the mistake of not connecting the harness properly once, leading to a flickering light.
For installation, make sure the vehicle is cool to avoid burns. And always double-check the polarity on LED bulbs; reversing that can cause them to short out!
