Where is the flasher relay located?

I’m having some trouble with my turn signals not working properly, and I suspect it might be the flasher relay. I’ve looked through my manual, but I can’t seem to find where exactly the flasher relay is located in my car.

  • Make and Model: Please share if it helps (for example, 2005 Honda Accord).
  • Symptoms: My turn signals are either completely dead or blinking too fast. Hazard lights are also acting up.

I’ve checked the fuses and they’re all intact, so I think the next step is to check the flasher relay. If anyone has tips on where to look or if it’s a pain to replace, I’d appreciate any advice! Thanks!

I can help with that! The flasher relay is commonly located under the dashboard, but it varies by model. Check your owner’s manual if you have it!

I’ve found mine in the fuse box too! It really depends on the vehicle make. Any chance we can narrow it down?

Great point, jonesdavid! I’ve seen the flasher relay near the battery in some older models. It’s like a treasure hunt sometimes!

In my experience, it’s usually just behind the glove compartment or under the dashboard. A good flashlight can help with your search!

Thanks for the tips! I didn’t even think to check the fuse box. I’m going to take a look there next. Fingers crossed!

I’ve found that the glove compartment is a common hiding spot! Just watch out for all the accumulated junk in there!

And if all else fails, you can always try Google. It’s surprisingly accurate for my Honda. Just type in ‘flasher relay location for [your model]’.

Don’t forget about the rear of the vehicle! Some flasher relays are placed by the tail lights in certain models. Just a thought!

That’s so true! I once spent an hour looking and found it right above the rear tire. You never know what to expect!

I appreciate all this info. My car is acting up, and I’m not sure if I should dig into this or let a mechanic handle it. What do you all think?

If you’re comfortable, it’s definitely worth a shot to check it out yourself, davidhunt! Just make sure the car is off to avoid any shocks.

Sometimes fixing it yourself can save a lot! Just be careful—no one wants to become a human fuse!

If your turn signals aren’t working at all, it could definitely be the flasher relay. Another symptom to watch for is strange clicking noises when you try to activate them. I had this issue recently and found the relay was faulty.

I’ve experienced similar problems! My hazards wouldn’t flash at all, which was super frustrating. I ended up checking the relay under the dashboard.

The flasher relay is usually located in the fuse box or under the steering column. My car had a diagram that helped identify it. It’s like a little box or cylinder.

That’s helpful info! I often forget to check the fuse box for issues. I’ll give that a shot next time my turn signals act up.

A clear sign of a malfunctioning relay is if the turn signals flash too quickly. It can mean a bulb is out or the relay has issues. It’s worth checking both!

Good point! I had that happen once and it drove me nuts until I realized it was the relay. Took just a minute to fix!

I always thought clicking noises were just a quirk of old cars! Guess I should have checked the flasher relay sooner. Great advice from everyone here!
