Anyone tried ICON Stage 2 for their 4Runner? Need some insights!

Hey everyone,

I’ve been doing a bit of research on the ICON Stage 2 suspension system for my Toyota 4Runner, and I’m looking for some real-world experiences and advice from those who have already installed it or are considering it like I am.

Here are a few points I’m curious about:

  • Ride Quality: How does it compare to the stock suspension? Any noticeable improvements?
  • Installation: Was it straightforward to install, or did you encounter any hurdles?
  • Off-Road Performance: If you’ve taken it off-road, how did it handle? Were there any differences in rough terrain?
  • Cost vs. Value: Is it worth the investment based on your experience?

It seems like a solid upgrade, but I’d love to hear your opinions before I make a decision. Any detailed reviews or tips would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance for your help!

I’ve installed the ICON Stage 2 on my 4Runner and it’s a game changer! Focus on the initial setup; make sure to follow the torque specs in the instructions closely. It really helps with maintaining alignment.

Absolutely agree! Proper torque is key. I’ve also found that checking the alignment after the first few rides is really important to avoid issues later on.

For installation, having a buddy helps! The struts can be tricky. Also, consider upgrading your sway bar links for better stability during cornering.

That’s a great tip! I’ve heard ICON has some solid options. What sway bar links did you go with?

I stuck with the ICON brand links, they work perfectly with the system. And yes, having a friend is essential to tackle some of those awkward bolts!

Don’t forget to check the shocks after heavy use. They can compress over time and affect your ride quality. I recommend a routine inspection every few months.

Great point! An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. Have any of you had to replace shocks, and if so, what’s the average lifespan?

My shocks lasted about 50K before showing signs of wear. I swapped them for the ICON’s performance series, and the difference is noticeable!

That’s awesome to hear! I’m considering those too. Did you notice any change in the overall height after the swap?

Not much height change; the ride quality improved significantly, though! Also, make sure your tire size matches the new setup for best performance.

Good call on tire size! Larger tires will affect your gearing and handling, so choose wisely if you’re planning to upgrade.

Selecting the right tires is key! Anyone using mud terrains with their ICON setup? Love to hear how they handle off-road.

I have mud terrains, and they are amazing off-road! The ICON does wonders at keeping everything stable, even in tough conditions.

Just be ready for some noise on the pavement. Those mud terrains can be loud, but hey, who doesn’t love a little engine growl?!

Haha, true! But it’s part of the adventure, right? Remember to enjoy the ride and keep the suspension in check!

Definitely! After all the hard work installing the ICON, take it out for a spin on some trails and appreciate the upgrade.

Couldn’t agree more! It’s all about making the most of our rides. Let’s keep sharing tips as we go!

I’ve got the ICON Stage 2 on my 4Runner and the difference is night and day! Off-road capabilities have improved massively, especially on rocky trails.

That’s awesome to hear! How does it handle on the highway? I’ve heard mixed reviews about the ride quality on pavement.
